| From The Director's Desk.... |
The year 2009 & the first half of 2010 have been significant in reshaping the 'outlook' of our Hospital from an upcoming health care provider to more a vibrant, affordable and patient friendly specialist hospital in the region.
Apart from professional Doctors & Nursing care, more emphasis has been placed towards the Patient's comfort and satisfaction by providing a soothing ambiance & modern patient support systems in 'hot spots' like the Pharmacy, Laboratory and the Radiology Departments. An internationally branded Coffee & Optic shop provide the extra 'all in one roof ' facility to make the Hospital visit more of a surprisingly pleasant experience.
Recent addition of state of the art Tele Medicine & Tele Radiology departments has spurred the recent visits of International patients and we are galloping in the direction of becoming a top International Health Tourism Destination.
Through Synapse, we would like to be closer to our Patients fraternity by not only sharing 'easy to read' healthcare information but also offering the patients an opportunity to interact with our professionals by seeking counseling information through this e news letter.
Regards,
Akbar Moideen Thumbay
Director

HEALTH TIPS TO REMEMBER
|
| SUMMER HEALTH TIPS: |
- Stay hydrated: Most Important ritual in summer. Dehydration occurs when the amount of water leaving the body is greater than the amount being taken in, leading to symptoms such as a dry mouth, muscle cramps and light-headedness. Without treatment, your organs will shut down and there is a risk of death. Electrolyte based drinks must be consumed while long exposure to sun & in cases of excessive loss of water due to sweat.

- Protect your skin & eyes from sun and stay out of the sun as much as possible. Avoid the sun between 10am and 4pm. Marketing & Sales persons and summer shoppers are advised to wear protective clothes or use an umbrella or wear hat and sunglasses to reduce sun-related risks.
- If you are prone to allergies, then heat and humidity can make them worse as bacteria, dust mites, and moulds that trigger allergy attacks, breed in humid environments. Air conditioners also add to the problems. Servicing of AC periodically, avoidance of direct AC or Fan contact may be handy to resolve the crisis.
- Most common skin problem is 'prickly heat' which is a red skin rash that occurs when sweat is trapped under the skin. Though it is not a serious condition, symptoms such as itching may be irritating & annoying. Use of Prickly Heat powder & frequent bath may alleviate the condition.
- Variation in food habits in summer is a common sense and fat foods like meat, food stored in fridge for long time, 'stale' cold food from Fast food restaurants and open restaurants are better to be off your pleasures. Fruits like water melon, sweet melon & lots of salad are the best pleasure alternatives.
