Radiology department is one of the most modern, well-equipped departments including different diagnostic tools and means of investigations that help clinicians and patients to reach an accurate diagnosis and hence prompt effective treatment.
Different modalities in the department include:
- Conventional and Computerized Radiology wherein an X-ray machine is used to obtain images of different parts of the body especially chest, bones & joints.
- Ultrasonography is a digital high clarity thus suitable to obtain images of human body through the use of high frequency sound waves with no hazards of radiation. Obstetric ultrasound which is the specialized use of sound waves to visualize and determine the condition of pregnancy at different stages. Ultrasound is also used to image many body organs including breasts and early detection of the breast cancer.
- Color Doppler Ultrasound is a special technique used to examine the blood flow. Doppler image helps the physician to see and evaluate blockages of blood flow, narrowing of vessels and fetal monitoring.
- Computerized Tomography (CT) is a special X-ray equipment to obtain image data from different parts of body; it can show several types of tissues with great clarity and is also a very effective method for early diagnosis of neurological problems including CVS & brain tumors.
- Mammography is a special machine designed and used to examine the mammary gland (breast). Breast Cancer is one of the most common malignancies among women worldwide. An annual breast examination is a mandatory part of complete physical checkup.
- Dental X-ray (OPG).
