The department of Surgery is supported by highly qualified and experienced surgeons committed to safety and welfare of the patient. It provides surgical care for a wide range of surgical conditions ranging from simple conditions like drainage of abscess to highly complex conditions like polytrauma management. The department specializes in operations of Thyroid, breast, hernia repair with mesh, surgery of the colon, gall bladder, removal of spleen, appendicectomy, surgery for peptic ulcers, gastric cancers, removal of superficial lumps, lymph node biopsies, varicose veins surgery, surgery for ingrowing toe nails etc. The whole range of anal conditions like piles, fissure-in-ano, fistula-in-ano and perianal abscesses are managed and the post-operative care given is exemplary. Circumcision for all ages including Laparoscopic procedures are done. Upper and Lower GI endoscopies are available.

Round the clock trauma services is provided by personnel who have been specially trained to handle trauma victims. Our trauma team coordinates the initial evaluation and treatment of all injured patients brought to ER. Other emergency Conditions like peritonitis and appendicitis are also handled at all times of the day and night. Surgical faculty together with closely supervised general surgical residents, who are BTLS certified, provide round the clock coverage of the emergency room. The Trauma Surgeons are ATLS certified and have rich experience in managing polytrauma patients. They have managed cases of major liver lacerations, pelvic fractures with bladder injuries, Splenic trauma, intestinal injuries, etc. successfully.

The Surgeons are available for general surgical emergencies like bowel perforations, intestinal obstructions, strangulated hernias, torsion testis, acute appendicectomies, drainage of abscesses, etc. Department of Surgery coordinates with other departments to have multi-disciplinary approach so that the patient gets the best care possible.Well equipped operation theatres(major&minor), post operative wards and ICU ensure that all patients receive best quality care at all times.

With the GI Endoscope and Colonscope in the department, diagnostic endoscopies for abdominal conditions are done whenever required. Support staff and Resident doctors complement the care provided by the faculty.
