Physical Therapy Department
IntroductionPhysical Therapy is a profession dedicated to the improvement of the quality of life and Physical therapists, or PTs, are health care professionals who evaluate and treat people with health problems resulting from injury, disease, or biomechanical dysfunction. Physical therapists are integral members of the primary care team and are involved in prevention of disability and promotion of positive health. Physical Therapy practice today is based on well-developed body of scientific and clinical knowledge. Physical therapists apply knowledge from the basic, behavioral, and social sciences. Physical Therapy serves humanity, which is holistic in nature and provides services to persons of all ages, gender and cultures. Physical therapy examines human motion at the tissue, organ, and systems levels. It brings together theories of the basic and behavioral sciences that help explain normal and dysfunctional motor behavior. It offers a unique synthesis of biological and behavioral theories and examines the interplay of physical and psychological factors on human motion.
Physical Therapy Department at the GMCHR&C is one of the premier departments of Physical Therapy in the country and consists of a team of dynamic, experienced and efficient faculty dedicated to excellence in service, education and research. The faculty endorses promotion of health, preventative health care, and rehabilitation of the patients.
